Interpretation of Nomogram in Disturbances of Acid-Base Equilibrium

Abstract

|
A clear understanding of concept and definition for terminology of acid-base equilibrium and disturbances is mandatory.
In order to comprehend disturbances of acid-base equilibrium in complex situation of clinical
medicine, proper interpretation of available laboratory findings based on clinical acumen for changes on patients is indeed in need, that is, emphasizing good correlation of clinico-laboratory findings.
With aims of facilitating the above purpose, important milestones of well-known nomograms of acid-base, such as Van Slyke,McLean, Singer & Hastings, Davenport, Siggaard-Andesen, Filley and Schwartz, were presented with appropriate explanation and concept of significance band.
